•    Pre-nuptial and co-habitation agreements

Divorce is surely one of the most painful and stressful processes that an individual will endure and it is essential that you have the right advice and support in place.  We can help.
The grounds for divorce will usually be based on adultery or irreconcilable differences and the marriage must be irretrievably broken down.  One party must actively divorce the other.
If you feel that your marriage has irretrievably broken down, or you would just like to discuss the options available to you, please contact us for a confidential, no obligation and free initial consultation.

A separation agreement ensures that financial and children matters are resolved before legal divorce proceedings.  This often means that the divorce itself becomes a less stressful process for those going through it.

A separation agreement formally sets these details out and is written to accommodate your needs as much as possible.  If this is something you are considering, please contact a member of our team as soon as possible.

Children are perhaps the most emotive areas of our lives.  And this affects not only the adults involved but of course, the children themselves. Robertsons solicitors are widely experience in matters of law relating to children including:
•    contact for parents
•    contact for grandparents
•    adoption
•    care orders and supervision orders
Whether married, separated, co-habiting or in a civil partnership, it is essential that you find the right advice and support you need when any issue relating to children becomes contentious or requires legal input.  Find out more here

Pre -marital Agreements
12% of the population in England and Wales live together before (if ever) getting married. A pre-written agreement will ensure that in the event of a split, the pressure and stress is eased significantly by agreeing upfront the split of possessions and assets.

Civil partnerships
The Civil Partnership Act means that when a civil partnership breaks down the possessions and assets must be split similarly to those when a divorce occurs.

Elder law
Elder law simply refers to the area of law that principally involves our older members of society.  We continue to grow older as a population and this brings with it challenges relating to illness at later stages of life, domestic arrangements for the longer term and such like.

Our elder law team will provide the support and attention needed; this is a difficult area of discussion, planning for events that are both frightening, but also inevitable.

Our services include:
•    Wills (see our probate wills and trusts page)
•    Administration of Estates
•    Power of Attorney
•    Court of protection
•    Inheritance Tax

If you have yet to plan for later life – or if you have ageing relatives and are concerned about what may happen should they become dependent, please contact a member of the Robertsons team on 029 2023 7777.

Domestic Violence
We would all like to think that this could never happen to us, but the harsh reality is that it can.  It can happen at any stage of a relationship and in any kind of relationship.  It isn’t restricted to women as commonly thought.  Refuge state that it is the abuse of one partner within an intimate or family relationship.

The abuse can be mental, physical, sexual or financial.  Many people experiencing domestic abuse do nothing about it because they are paralysed by fear of what may happen if and when the abuser finds out.  But until they speak to us – we cannot help.

If you, or someone you know is in an abusive situation, please contact us as soon as possible.  We will meet in complete confidentiality and only act upon your explicit instruction.
